Oh, Interwebs!

That is not glass; it is candy. See more here.
(Hat tip to Amusing Planet.)
Welcome to my periodic round-up of things I've found online that make me smile, cry, laugh, think, shout, or drop my jaw.

LAUGH

Mental_Floss offers you some fun with words: 48 Things You Didn't Know Had Names.
You probably already know the meaning of schadenfreude but another super-specific German word 'vorfreude' describes a kinder, less terrible feeling. The joy you feel when thinking about good things that will happen.

CHEER

Can you imagine how awesome it would be to win the Big Bang Theory Scholarship?
Starting this week, Big Bang Theory and The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation have established The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment—valued at $4 million dollars.
They're starting with 20 awards, then five more each year, in perpetuity. Read more here.

DROP YOUR JAW

I identified with every single one of these. And in almost every one, I think people who do it the other way are just plain WRONG!

(Also, in response to the comments on the post: do any of you cut your sandwiches horizontally?)

DROP YOUR JAW AGAIN

Elena Shumilova takes the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous pictures. They will take your breath away. (Her pictures are protected so you can't download or link to them.)

AND AGAIN

Abandoned places fascinate me -- especially modern ghost towns or huge, elaborate structures that no longer serve a purpose. Check these out. Some are creepy, others are simply beautiful.

THINK

Grammar Ninja has encountered this challenge before, and she thinks there must be an elegant way to resolve the whole question of gender-neutral pronouns in English without resorting to "they." But she could be wrong. Read this post on Grammarly.com.

Grammarly readers are pretty much evenly divided on the question of standardizing a gender-neutral pronoun.
Your thoughts?
