Oops. I did it again.

Spring in Ottawa | Wynn Anne's Meanderings
Russian Princess
Today was one of those glorious spring days that send a siren call to everyone: come out and play in the sun! So I did. I decided to take Kane for a walk at the Tulip Festival.

Only one problem:
No Dogs | Wynn Anne's Meanderings
No dogs allowed. Even on a leash.
UPDATE: The reason for the "Oops. I did it again" blog title is because this is the second time I've wandered into a restricted area.

But we didn't see that sign until we had already been in the park for about 20 minutes, so I managed to snap some pictures of Ottawa's annual festival.

Forgot to snap a picture of the name of this one.

I snapped these two as I was scurrying out of the park.

It hadn't been much of a walk, so we made our way to the Arboretum, which is part of the Experimental Farm, where we saw this.

Yay! Dogs allowed!
Indeed, we saw plenty of dogs, but I did not take their pictures. Most of them were on-leash, but even the ones who were loose were well-behaved.

Spring was vibrantly alive in the arboretum as well, with all the fruit trees and spireas showing their colours.

We even caught a faraway glimpse of the tulip festival, from across Dow's Lake.

I love willows - and the delicate green of their spring leaves.

I also love this guy. He won't pose for pictures, but every so often, I manage to snap one of him being still enough that he isn't just a blur. (In this case, he was watching someone approach who commended Kane on his good behaviour.)

Happy, happy dog.

Spring is here! It was long coming, but worth waiting for.

  4. So jealous!! I want to get into the city and get some pictures! But it has rained all day today, and hubby is gone with the car for the rest of the week. You captured it beautifully! I love them all.

    1. I think the tulips will be around for a while yet -- they had a late start this spring.

  5. Hello Wynn Anne. I have been to Ottawa for tulip festival - so pretty! Your blooms and blossoms look great. Too bad you couldn't roam about wherever you pleased but oh well, for a $100 fine I wouldn't either.

    1. I keep forgetting that Kane is not a toddler in a stroller. I have to learn to look for those signs!

    1. It really is worth a visit in spring. Summer is too hot. Winter is too cold. Spring (or fall) are just right.
