Look: you can see the drips coming from the downspout. |
While I do wish rainy days could include more sunshine, I do appreciate the unique beauty that they offer. On this morning, I had headed out without my camera, planning to only do a short circuit of the park before heading back to bed to nurse my sore back.
But I was almost immediately captivated by the tiny droplet of water clinging to the tips of buds and needles. So I went back for my camera (and umbrella).
Photographing raindrops, it turns out, is a little challenging. The autofocus on the camera looks for sharp lines; water does not provide these very well.
Can you see the raindrops I caught as they fell? |
More than once, I accidentally knocked off all the droplets in a small shower, as I leaned in close.
Like a string of beads. |
Careful!
Next challenge: try to get a slightly greater depth of field, so I capture more of the pristine droplets. (I need to learn to bracket my shots using a variety of apertures!)
Hope you enjoyed our rainy walk1
You've captured some great shots here! I'm ready to see more sunshine in our neck of the woods, but I do like how fresh the rain makes everything feel... and I love the smell after it rains, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sheila. I love the spring smells, too. Especially after the kind of winter we just had. Too long!
DeleteYou did great considering you pretty much had your hands already full!
ReplyDeleteMy Canon has a close up feature and I tend to use that for rain drops and other things. I can adjust the focus a little bit, but not as much as when I set the camera to manual.
A macro lens would be great!!
I like the little line of droplets - it's like a necklace made by Nature :)
I hadn't thought about using he camera's macro feature.
DeleteYour photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, MTM. Thanks also for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI never thought about how hard it would be to photograph rain - I'm going to try it next time we get some!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it. This was actually my third (at least) attempt. Still learning!
DeleteBeautiful photos Wynn Anne, you make rain look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather. It certainly felt magical that day.
DeleteYep, you've put a photo challenge out there... going to try this the next time it rains. I love the look!
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for drips like these, I think it has to be a really gentle rain. A proper storm with lots of wind would just whip the drips away.
